Welcome to the Sand Gallery. Most of these pictures are from Pismo Beach or Sand Mountain. Both great places to "Wheel" no matter what type rig you bring along. Those of you who haven't tried Sand are really missing something special. For eight years all I ran with the Jeep was the rocks (don't get me wrong I have a love affair with them as well). But once I experienced the dunes, and transferred my childhood need for speed (oh yea, a little air-time too) to the Sand, it quickly became an addiction. Again you can run almost anything from Quads to Rails to Full size Rigs. Just air down the tires and keep moving. On the hard packed beach you will see just about anything, even Corvettes, Cadillac's and even the family stationwagon. But as you get more out towards the Dunes, it's mainly the hard core stuff that you will see. But on occasion you will see a few attempts with as I said, just about anything, even a Ford Arrowstar van loaded to the hilt with a bunch of fun loving youngsters. We have seen some great attempts through the years, and are always willing to help out if the going gets tough and the tough get stuck. As you get more into it you will quickly learn that paddles and a little horse power come in handy. This is what opted for me to take a year and a half break (also due to the "El-nino" destruction and a blown engine on our 4th of July trip). and put my Jeep through a major metamorphosis. It was quite an undertaking and you can check it out from the Link  under my Jeep picture on the RIGGS Page. Please note the pictures of the rolled Jeeps were not from our group. They both had a family of four and were doing something we call "Bowl Riding". Unfortunately they picked the same bowl, and worse yet, from opposite directions. There's one key to bowl riding ... momentum. This was a perfect example of the fact, if there is none, this thing called gravity takes over. It was actually lucky they hit as they rolled because it stopped the roll and probably saved the kids in the back seats. I'm very happy to say nobody was hurt, except for the Rigs, and maybe a little pride. We came up with a plan and winched into the night, and ended getting both back over with out incidence. In our plans for this year are the regular trips to Pismo and Sand Mountain, and also trips to both Glamis Dunes and Dumont Dunes.
